Just how big is a blue whale?

Well, those who visited the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s 52nd annual Whale Fiesta on Sunday, Feb. 5, got a good idea of that.

That’s because the star of the San Pedro festival was a pod of life-sized inflatable whales — two of which folks could walk through and see the enormity of blue whales’ hearts and rib cages. Blue whales can grow up to 100 feet long.

The free festival also featured live music, games, puppet shows, marine mammal-related arts and crafts, and displays by environmental and conservationist groups, as well as educators.
