Last month, it was reported that the Galaxy S22 Fan Edition (FE), which is a cheaper version of the just-released Samsung Galaxy S22, will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip. However, this might not be the case as insiders now reveal.
Samsung has in the past released two variants of their Galaxy smartphones, countries like the United States and China get a Snapdragon(SD) Chipset while the rest of the regions like here in Africa get their in-house Exynos Chipset.
Over the years, the SD Chipsets have remained a tad bit superior and have started creeping into the African market with Samsung offering the S21 FE with either chipset, I received the S21 FE with an Exynos While Techish received one running on the SD 888 5G . The Galaxy Z Flip 3 I had also run on an SD chip.
I think Samsung is better off developing their in-house Exynos Chipset and exclusively offering them on budget, midrange, and Galaxy FE devices while sticking with the premium Qualcomm SD chips in the top-tier flagships.
According to a report, 20 percent of Samsung’s Galaxy phones are fueled by in-house Exynos chips and the company plans to increase that to 60 percent, this could be done by only using the in-house chip and the SD chip and foregoing all other rival chipsets.
It’d be pretty hard to slap a $1000 price tag on a premium S23 flagship running the Taiwanese chipset, however, Samsung should offer a strictly Exynos S22 FE and instead offer more markets the Qualcomm SD chipset in more markets, we can dream.
