Massive snake discovered in Queensland bed

A horrifying snake discovery has sparked warnings for people to thoroughly check under the covers before bed to avoid getting an alarming surprise.

The warning came after an enormous brown snake had to be removed from someone’s bed in Kalbar, west of the Gold Coast in Queensland, on Monday.

The Eastern Brown snake was collected from the home by Zachery’s Snake and Reptile Relocation, which shared chilling photos of the animal lazing on the bed to Facebook.

“Check the bed carefully tonight! This eastern brown snake safely relocated!” the snake catcher wrote along with the photos.

The snake appeared to have been disturbed from a warm nap at the time of the photos, with part of its body still tucked beneath the blanket at the end of the bed.

It had its head raised and stared back at the camera as though it was upset to have been woken.

Hundreds of locals were mortified at the sight and vowed to never head to bed without checking under the doona again.

“This is what nightmares are made of,” one wrote in response to the photos.

“Well I’m never sleeping again,” another said.

“Oh excellent. Doubt I’ll sleep ever again,” someone else said.

The tale came as a reminder for others to be more vigilant about keeping their doors closed to avoid unwanted reptiles slithering in.

“And this is why I always say ‘close the doors’,” one wrote in a comment.

“I would simply pass away,” someone else said.
