Five Years After Rebranding From Ringier, ROAM Jobs Becomes The African Talent Company


Five years ago, Ringier Africa, which operated one of Africa’s top classifieds, and integrated media entity One Africa Media (OAM) merged their serves to form Ringier One Africa Media (ROAM) (not to be confused with ROAM, the firm that runs e-bus service, formerly known as OpiBus). This made them one of the leading classifieds groups in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa. The development was to bolster knowledge sharing and boost the offerings of individual businesses using the platform’s technology.

ROAM runs operation in other countries too, including Senegal, Ghana, TZ, Uganda and Ethiopia. It has since entered the Zimbabwe and Mauritius market.  

Now, ROAM is rebranding again. It is becoming The African Talent Company, which will be under the leadership of Hilda Kabushenga Kragha.

The new organization is backed by its shareholders Swiss Ringier AG and Australian SEEK Ltd, and seeks to bridge the talent gap in Africa by addressing both the supply and demand side of the African labour market.

According to a statement from the new company, The Africa Talent Company is better equipped to meet employers where they are and effectively match them with the best talent.

Recruiters will have access to a more robust catalogue of HR solutions and services that are tailored and designed to be accessible across a wide range of requirements, including:

  1. Offline recruitment solutions: Expanding its range of bespoke, concierge-based solutions for more complex hiring needs.  
  2. Manpower outsourcing: Developing highly specialised offerings for niche customers, with a growing demand for transactional jobs. This will include augmenting its offering with skills development as well as technology-enabled onboarding and benefits management.

Furthermore, The African Talent Company will be investing further in the e-learning space and developing a winning suite of diverse, easy-to-use, self-service online products for upskilling candidates on its platform.

It has more than a combined 4.6 million job seekers and 150,000+ employers on the platform.

It will also continue to the host of Jobberman Nigeria, Ghana, BrighterMonday Kenya and Uganda.

Plans to enter additional markets are underway.
